Λ°C aka Lambda Celsius has been hard at work constructing an identity surrounded by falsehoods, screens, social anxieties, and isolation, culminating in a character on the edge of sonic norms. The artist formerly known as Lavender explores these themes heavily throughout her self-titled debut album, which is an eclectic and groovy collection of electronic pop and post-punk vibes. We're pleased today to premiere the video for album cut, "Stay Cool", which you can watch below.
"Stay Cool" touches on the insecure projections of ourselves and the desire to find real human connection, albeit at a distance, where coolness absorbs multiple meanings. Various imagery and multiplying reflections in her new video -- from the phone to the computer screen to the documentation of a video on an old TV -- reference these self projections and cool isolation.
Through this barrage of images, a couple questions arise. Locked in our grids of commerce and cultural conduct, how do we break the systems that control our every move? And where is human connection found amongst false identities, materialism, and a lack of emotional commitment?
